Create a wine stopper with metal and silicone sealing body
It starts from a wooden cylinder fixed to the chuck of the lathe, a slot of a few millimeters is dug, in which the topmost part of the metal cone will be inserted. A hole is drilled in the center of the piece of wood for about 15 mm, the piece is taken off and a threaded stainless steel rod is screwed and glued in the hole. When the glue has set, the protruding bar is screwed to a small tool with a tenon for the lathe spindle and, on the opposite side, a thread to screw the rod glued to the piece of wood. The stopper head is shaped and finished. It is unscrewed from the device and screwed to the metal cone which has a female thread.
Create a decorative wooden stopper with a cork body
As in the previous case, a piece of wood is fixed to the lathe chuck. A seat for the conical cork stopper is dug and then the upper section is widened to allow the head of the bottle to enter. The piece of wood is detached, overturned and, fixed to the mandrel which will enter and grip the hole for the cork. The desired shape is created, and the wine stopper is finished. The finished piece is detached from the lathe chuck, and the cork is glued in its seat.
