The necklace holder is a nice decorative display stand to keep your jewels at hand. This jewelry holder is built with a central column to support a head in which six arms are inserted to hang necklaces, bracelets or pendants. A great jewelry organizer, it will adorn your dresser with an elegant touch, your jewelry will be tidier and at your fingertips. The necklaces are made solely of natural wood handcrafted in walnut, locust, boxwood.
The necklace holder consists of 9 or 10 pieces: the base, the column, the head, the arms, all turned and finished separately and then assembled with joints and glue. The processing is done entirely by hand on all components. Every single piece of the necklace holder is crafted in unusual and unique shapes.
The base
The base is turned cross grain from a wooden plank segment, the plank segment is sawn in a roughly circular shape and glued to a faceplate fixed to the lathe. The lower part of the base is turned, creating a hollowed-out socket for the lathe spindle. The partially machined base is unglued and fixed to the lathe using the chuck jaws. At this point, the upper or visible part of the base is outlined and a circular mortise is hollowed in which the column tenon will be inserted. It is then finished and unglued
The column
The column is produced by turning a cylinder or wooden lath longitudinally to the vein. Once the desired shape has been designed, two tenons are created at the two ends. The tenons will provide the joint to the base and the head. The column is cut to size and put aside.
The head
The head is a shaped wooden cylinder into which the column and the arms will be inserted. We start by turning a piece of wood between the spindles, roughing it, and producing a cylinder for the grip of the lathe in compression. The piece is fixed to a chuck and worked from the free side by digging a socket for the chuck; it will also become the joint for the tenon of the column. The piece is reversed and fixed to the chuck, and the shape is finished. With a drill and the help of a protractor, 6 holes are drilled to fit the arms. It is finished and detached from the lathe. In some cases, the head is hollowed out and a lid is made to create a small secret box for rings.
The arms
The six arms are turned in the same shape from wood cylinders designing the ends and creating a tenon at the base to be inserted into the holes in the head. The end is turned into the shape of a spear or peg with the head in relief.
The assembly
The base, the column, and the head are assembled using the turned joints and glue. Once the glue has dried, the 6 arms are inserted and glued to the head, everything is completed with natural waxes.
